This interactive workshop is aimed at research students and staff who wish to learn about the most common bibliometrics and the tools used to measure research impact and influence.
This course will introduce you to:
- The key sources of citation data: Web of Science, Google Scholar and Scopus
- Journal metrics
- Article-level metrics
- Author metrics
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Compare journal citation impact using journal ranks
- Find article-level metrics and altmetrics
- Understand and compare sources of author metrics
- Understand the limits of bibliometrics for assessing academic impact and responsible use of metrics
