Part of the benefit of the coaching programmes has been the constructive conversations you have had with each other, sometimes facilitated and sometimes over coffee! Peer 2 Peer coaching will introducing you to coaching skill sets while supporting each other through enhanced 1-1 conversations.  Coaching creates a context for a particular type of conversation, one that often creates a new perspective on a situation while challenging the coachee to take actions to change their situation.  You’ll find coaching skills offer a powerful way to hold conversations with your peers, with researchers, mentees, PhD students, as well as with students.

Outcomes

You will come away with:

  • A self-coaching skill-set that enhances your own self-understanding

  • Peer-coaching skills that change the type of conversation you have with colleagues, generating a non-threatening and non-evaluative relationship that is both challenging and supportive

  • A commitment to fostering a further sense of community amongst 50th ALs

What’s involved

The learning of these skills is not abstract - it is directly applied to your work through experiential and interactive learning.  The programme involves an initial 1 day workshop, 6* fortnightly assigned coaching conversations (30 mins as coach, 30 mins coaching), a supervision call and a final half-day workshop.
