A hand crumbling soil, a dark-feathered bird held in someone's hands, the leaves of a shrub overlaid with text: Reflections on running an interdisciplinary research body, Richard Gordon, Pentland Centre logo

The Pentland Centre have great pleasure in hosting Richard Gordon (the recently retired CEO of Manaaki Whenua/Landcare Research (New Zealand) Ltd.

Manaaki Whenua is one of Aotearoa/New Zealand’s Crown Research Institutes that focuses on the sustainable use of land, water and soils and AoNZ’s biodiversity, biosecurity and climate.

The seminar will involve Richard talking us through Manaaki Whenua’s approach to these issues (captured in this document - Te Āpōpōtanga, means “Our Tomorrow”). He will also speak about AoNZ’s science approach and likely future trajectories. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion on the basis of the presentation.
