Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training 

Student Wellbeing Services at Lancaster University and Lancaster University Student Union (LUSU) are partnering with Lancashire Mind to enable staff and students to access free suicide prevention training over the 25/26 academic year. . This is a unique offer from Lancashire Mind, and a key part of our commitment to making Lancaster a Suicide Safer University

About the programme: 

Suicide First Aid Lite provides participants with the foundational knowledge needed to effectively intervene in situations where someone may be contemplating suicide. It is designed for individuals across various professions and community roles, this programme equips you with the tools to recognise the signs of suicide, initiate life-saving conversations, and connect a person having thoughts of suicide with appropriate resources. Whether you're a healthcare professional, educator, HR personnel, or concerned community member, this programme empowers you to make a real difference. You will also learn about how to access University and Community based support for staff and students at Lancaster. 

Orange Button Scheme: 

These sessions will run throughout the academic year, with staff and student groups being trained separately. They will be offered both online and in person, so you can engage in whatever way works best for you. You can register for the event here, and you will be eligible to apply for the Orange Button on completion. 

Please note that delegate names, roles and contact email will be shared with Lancashire Mind solely for the purposes of delivering this training and providing completion certificates.
