Whether you are preparing a research funding proposal or exploring how to apply your research outputs, an understanding of how to achieve sustainable impact is an important capability for a contemporary research professional.  This workshop will help you to become familiar with the Business Model Canvas, a robust framework that will enable you to consider all the different dimensions of a sustainable value model, including how to translate your research into a Value Proposition that serves as a well-designed solution to a clearly identified problem or opportunity, how it will sustain itself financially, what will be involved behind the scenes operationally and how to identify industrial partners and suppliers.  We will also provide an introduction to applying Human-Centred Design approaches to identifying and validating the assumptions that may put your proposals at risk.

You will be invited to work through an area of your own research to ensure the session is practical and personally meaningful, but having something prepared in advance isn’t a requirement.
