These weekly workshops are focussed on developing English language for academic writing. They run every term and are particularly useful for students whose first language is not English. They are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. All of the workshops are stand-alone, so you can sign up for the ones that are most relevant to you.

Workshop 4

Focus on reading: Taking a critical approach

How can I distinguish between fact and opinion? What aspects of a text can help me identify the writer's position? How can I evaluate the strength of a writer's argument? Come along to this session to discuss questions such as these, and to develop a greater understanding of what it means to take a critical approach to reading.
