Paula is passionate about women’s career development so is delighted to be joining you for the networking day, particularly as she has a fond relationship with the university. For sometime Paula‘s work here included responsibility for leadership development and this experience together with her earlier career prompted her to embark upon a PhD in the Department of Educational Research asking ‘where are all the women (in leadership)’ and ‘why are there so few women vice chancellors’? As higher education is not alone in suffering from poor diversity in leadership Paula positions her research within contemporary conversations about ‘the missing women’ across society. Since graduating Paula has worked at the University of Leeds furthering her research into gendered leadership cultures in higher education, health and academic medicine, and the retail sector and is proud to be making a contribution to this field.
