'Nipping it in the bud'- How to manage confilect in a timely manner, and when to apply the disciplinary process

Although it sounds clichéd, employees are the University’s most valuable asset. If you are a Head of department, Departmental officer, line manager, supervisor or team leader, the way you manage can have an important impact on the health and wellbeing of your employees, how well they do their job, and how well the university performs.
Being a better people manager is good for the business and good for the people who work for you. If staff are involved and satisfied at work they can bring real benefits to the organisation. Tackling issues such as work related stress, absence and conflict in the workplace can have a wide-reaching, positive impact.
We are going to be running a series of workshops that will help all managers (and those aspiring to be managers) build better management skills, by providing guidance on policies already in place and by advising on how to implement informal and formal measures. The workshops will be led by an experienced HR practitioner and last for 1½ hours, with time build in for questions. They will cover a range of people issues including:

How to manage attendance and sickness absence, including how to support staff with mental health issues
