This interactive online workshop is aimed at students, researchers and staff who wish to learn how to search for information effectively, perhaps for a dissertation or literature review.  

Please note in advance of the workshop there is a requirement that you undertake some pre-workshop activities, that should take around 60 minutes to complete.  This material will be shared on registering for the event. 

Learning outcomes  

  • Consider your information needs for a particular purpose​* 

  • Use subject guides to discover what the Library has to offer ​ 

  • Formulate a search using keywords and Boolean operators ​ 

  • Construct a search in a relevant database​ 

  • Reflect on strategies you can use to improve your confidence and information skills
