This course is organised by the English Language Development team and will be most relevant for students whose first language is not English.

This short course provides a supportive space to reflect upon your experiences of writing a PhD in an additional language and explore your writing-related questions, challenges, and strategies with a Learning Developer and a small group of other PhD students. We will also spend some time reading and analysing samples of academic writing, including your own if you wish.

The course is made up of three sessions which will be tailored to the needs and interests of the group.  We’ll be in touch with you before the course begins to find out which areas of academic writing you’d like to focus on. We will then use your responses to shape the three sessions.

Sessions will take place on the following days and times:

  • Wednesday 11th May, 10 – 11.30am, Supported Learning Area, Library B Floor
  • Wednesday 18th May, 10 – 11.30am, Supported Learning Area, Library B Floor
  • Wednesday 25th May, 10 – 11.30am, Supported Learning Area, Library B Floor

There are a limited number of places, so only sign up if you can commit to attending all three sessions.

If the sessions are fully booked, you are welcome to join the waiting list as we plan to run a second cohort later in the term.

If you have any questions, please email us on englishlanguagedevelopment@lancaster.ac.uk.
