In this session students will consider their information needs in relation to their research and will consider things such as conducting a scoping search, refining their research question, finding gaps in research and identifying information resources. 

By the end of this session students/researchers should be able to: 

  • Identify their information requirements and consider how those requirements could be met and define limits to their research 

  • Identify information and/or knowledge gaps, topics and interests in their research 

  • Identify different types of information e.g. primary, secondary  

  • Conduct a scoping search in a relevant resource 

  • Understand the various options, tools and resources, that are available
