ECOWild Adventure: Follow the River Lune
Event box
Join the Green Lancaster team's ECOWild Adventures for a chance to immerse yourself in the natural world through wildlife observation and mindful activities. The events take place on Wednesday afternoon in week 3, 4, 6, and 8 and include elements such as flora identification, wildlife observation, nature immersion, creative activities, and outdoor tea break.
On 22nd February, we will head over to the nearby village of Halton to explore the river Lune which runs through Lancaster. The route is 4km long from Halton to Caton. You will get to explore and walk along the Lune, learn about its journey from mountain to sea, discuss the species that call it home, and reflect on the importance of rivers as well as their health for nature and humans. We will do so with the help of books, binoculars and other material such as identification sheets. No previous knowledge or experience required.
We will provide tea and snacks and take some time to relax in this beautiful environment. At the end of the day, you will get to take part in a ‘Mindful Moment’ as part of which we will lead you through a few minutes of grounding in and appreciation for the natural world around us.
A member of the Green Lancaster Team will meet you at the Lancaster Bus Station in town where we will take bus number 49 departing at 13:00 o’clock. Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure a prompt departure. We will return with bus number 82 bus from Caton (Station Hotel bus stop) at 16:10, arriving back at Lancaster Bus Station around 16:30.
Full details will be circulated by e-mail to all registered volunteers a few days before the event.
Please ensure you are wearing appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing (warm and waterproof). You are welcome to bring snacks and a drink with you.
Please contact us on green@lancaster.ac.uk in advance of the session if you have reduced mobility or accessibility requirements.
