LUMS Seminar Series 1 – Choosing and Using Software for Qualitative Data Analysis and Transcription
10th May 2023, 13:30-17:00
This workshop introduces how software such as ATLAS.ti and NVivo as well as auto-transcription tools built in to OneDrive, Teams and Zoom can support qualitative and mixed-methods research and literature reviews.
Different options will be introduced, from low-cost easier to learn software such as QUIRKOS through to comprehensive QDA packages that are often site-licensed by universities including NVivo and ATLAS.ti.
The differences between different packages, their strengths, weaknesses and methodological fit will be covered together with considerations about general approaches to getting started with software and good principles for working with any QDA package.
