Session Overviews
Moodle 4 Demo
Liz will demonstrate the upcoming version of Moodle, available after the July 24th upgrade, pointing out the key difference you need to be aware of and highlighting some new features you might like to use.
Moodle Plugin Showcase
Tim will talk about three plugins available in Moodle:
- "Board" is a collaborative activity that allows students to add post-it notes to a pinboard and sort them into columns – think Padlet.
- "Student Quiz" allows you to crowdsource the creation of quiz questions, a great way to test students' understanding of a concept by asking them to create questions about it.
- "Peer Assessment" is used with group assignments to allow students to moderate each other's contributions, potentially allowing fairer individual grades for the assessment.
H5P: Interactive Learning Materials
Mamuna will discuss using H5P to create course materials, such as interactive videos, timelines, flashcards and formative quizzes. H5P is a great tool to move your learning content from static resources to fully interactive materials.
Moodle for Course Administrators
Stephen will outline the integrations between Moodle and LUSI and detail how course administrators can achieve critical tasks in Moodle, such as course creation, user enrolments, setting up groups, content rollover and access restrictions. This session will be of particular interest to those new to the university or who have moved departments.
See the online course - Course Administration in Moodle (For staff) for more information.
Quizzes in Moodle
Tim will demo the question types available in Moodle quizzes, including basic multiple-choice questions, more complex image-based questions and high-level mathematical questions, and then explain how to conduct quizzes with your students.
See the online course - Quizzes in Moodle for more information.
Assessment in Moodle
Stephen will outline the online marking process, from setup in LUSI to marking and releasing feedback to students. This session will also detail the different online marking styles available and discuss each method's pros and cons.
See the online course –- Online Assessment and Feedback for Assignments in Moodle (for Staff) for more information.
