Bowland | Sound Bath
Event box
Thursday 14 March 2024 is University Mental Health Day. In the run up to this day, we are giving you an opportunity to take time out of your day to focus on your wellbeing by taking part in a therapeutic Sound Bath run by Janet Holt, on Tuesday 12 March 2024.
Janet works within a method researched and designed by BAST which induces a deeply relaxed state and begins the process of healing on all our levels, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. 'The sound works by entraining the brain, latching onto the sounds and frequencies of the instruments, and begins to slow down, going from an active Beta brain wave into an Alpha or Theta or even into a deep Delta brain wave, which is a deep, meditative state'.
Throughout the Sound Bath you are immersed in the sounds of the Himalayan and crystal singing bowls, gongs and therapeutic percussion. The sound surrounds you and supports you throughout your sound journey and then welcomes you back into the space.
This session will take place in the Chaplaincy Centre in the AFC Chapel, starting at 3.30pm. Floor mats will be provided, however please bring along any pillows or blankets, or anything else you need to ensure you are comfortable laying on the floor for the duration of the session.
