This session will introduce students to the academic information landscape. It will look at the differences between key sources of information including textbooks, journal articles, reference materials and point towards the key resources such as OneSearch and Subject Guides where this information can be found.

By the end of this session students/researchers will be able to: 

  • Identify the key sources of information in their discipline 

  • Recognise the difference between types and formats of information  

  • Consider how to use academic information effectively 

  • Identify the main gateways to finding academic information  

  • Familiarise themselves with academic vocabulary and terminology
