Sign up NOW and come along to our small, intimate Personal Empowerment Group.

The Personal Empowerment Group has been designed for students who experience emotions intensely, and who constantly feel ‘stuck’ and ‘overwhelmed’. As a result individuals may turn to unhelpful coping strategies such as; self-harm, substance misuse, alcohol misuse, binge eating, restrictive eating in order to escape from the horrible feeling inside.

The Personal Empowerment course is an innovative and unique treatment model for building resilience, which will start your journey of recovery. This will be done by gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, so that you are able to gain a new perspective and stronger coping strategies in order to make positive changes which will armour yourself against life’s ups and downs.

The group seeks to support individuals in a safe and confidential environment and will run weekly over 4 weeks.

The group takes a proactive approach, which encourages individuals to make a conscious decision to shape a more resilient lifestyle, where you are more easily able to find strength to embrace emotional difficulties and move forward, through building an understanding of the difference between the things that we can change and the things that we cannot and using our energy more wisely.

Students will spend time between sessions exploring development methods to becoming more emotionally resilient. The Personal Empowerment course is not meant to replace long-term treatment for your current difficulties, and we advise all students whom feel that they require longer-term support to report their difficulties to their GP and self-refer to Mindsmatter, which is the local NHS support service.

We have had many positive comments from previous group sessions:

'This has been one of the best therapies I have tried. Thank you so much'

'This group has been an invaluable help, especially with my mindset and my confidence and anxiety. I definitely noticed a change after the first session'

'I actually loved that it wasnt too skills based, less structured and intimidating, that we could just talk and understand'

'Was happy to attend each week and loved everyone here. Thank you'
